Beginning 2025-26 the district shifted K-5 services to Classroom-Based Services (CBS) delivered by general-ed teachers in students' neighborhood schools, replacing the former K5HC weekly 30-minute pull-outs. Full-Time Quest (elementary self-contained) and Middle School Quest continue without service-model changes. The earlier Part-Time Quest (POQ) pull-out was discontinued after 2024-25; existing 2nd-5th POQ students transitioned to Full-Time Quest in fall 2025.

Lake Washington School District · grades K–5 · 617 students · attendance-area school in Redmond, mid-rebuild through fall 2027
Alcott is a strong school having a chaotic moment. The fundamentals are stable: 87% combined English language arts (ELA) and math proficiency held over three years with zero test opt-outs, a veteran staff getting more experienced rather than churning, and a fifth of the student body identified highly capable. But a family enrolling for 2026-27 walks into three disruptions at once. An $86.8 million teardown-and-rebuild is happening around the students, who stay on the active construction site until the new building opens in fall 2027. The district's new model for delivering gifted services is still bedding in. And the parent association is in open procedural warfare over its own budget, with funding for fifth-grade camp, emergency-preparedness supplies, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) materials caught in the crossfire.
Buying into this boundary is largely a bet on the 2028 version of Alcott: a modern 78,000-square-foot building with an actual cafeteria, feeding the stable Evergreen-to-Eastlake secondary path. The next two school years are the messy middle. Non-boundary families don't get the choice anyway; the school is closed to out-of-district transfers for 2026-27.
