Aggregated from WHSCA, Washington Science Olympiad, The Blue Alliance, and the Seattle Times National Merit list. "Known counts" only, missing public evidence is not proof of absence.
Beginning 2025-26 the district shifted K-5 services to Classroom-Based Services (CBS) delivered by general-ed teachers in students' neighborhood schools, replacing the former K5HC weekly 30-minute pull-outs. Full-Time Quest (elementary self-contained) and Middle School Quest continue without service-model changes. The earlier Part-Time Quest (POQ) pull-out was discontinued after 2024-25; existing 2nd-5th POQ students transitioned to Full-Time Quest in fall 2025.

The striking thing about Timberline is how little runway it needed. The building opened in fall 2019 to absorb Redmond Ridge growth, and by spring 2022 its Science Olympiad team was the Washington state champion, going on to place 7th at nationals. Four years later a Timberline squad won the 2026 regional Science Bowl outright, taking the region's single bid to the national finals in Washington, D.C. That is an unusually fast climb into the Eastside's top competitive tier. It also comes packaged with something established Lake Washington School District (LWSD) middle schools rarely offer: for 2025-26 the school was listed as officially open to transfer applicants, both in-district and out-of-district.
Two cautions before you act on that. The placement decision that matters most happens in spring of 6th grade, when Algebra 1 recommendations are made, and a student who arrives later may find the accelerated math track already set. This dossier is also thinner than most on state test data (the assessment extract for this school failed), so the academic read below leans on the school's own improvement-plan numbers and verified competition results.
