Beginning 2025-26 the district shifted K-5 services to Classroom-Based Services (CBS) delivered by general-ed teachers in students' neighborhood schools, replacing the former K5HC weekly 30-minute pull-outs. Full-Time Quest (elementary self-contained) and Middle School Quest continue without service-model changes. The earlier Part-Time Quest (POQ) pull-out was discontinued after 2024-25; existing 2nd-5th POQ students transitioned to Full-Time Quest in fall 2025.

Stella Schola is the district's smallest and strangest offering: a classical, Latin-teaching, chronology-driven middle school of exactly 90 kids. A student here spends five of six daily hours with a single teacher and marches from ancient Egypt to modern Washington State over three years. The results justify the devotion: 86.7% proficiency in both English language arts and math, with a startling 76.7% of students scoring at the advanced level in math (state data from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, OSPI, 2024-25). But the number that should anchor your planning isn't a test score; it's a waitlist position. For 2026-27, every grade is full and the next offers go to #70 for 6th grade, #77 for 7th, and #108 for 8th, against 30 seats per grade. Realistically, this is a school you apply to in November of 5th grade, hope, and plan around not getting. Even winners should note the exit: with no attached high school, 8th graders face a second lottery for Tesla STEM or International Community School, or return to their neighborhood comprehensive.
